The Walking Reading Group on Care, R.O.S.E. Community Centre, Vauxhall, 6.30 – 8.30pm, Tuesday 12th December 2017

This midwinter walk continued our current edition of TWRG on Care, this time in the context of the huge development taking place in Nine Elms, Vauxhall. The selected texts and conversations discussed the radical potential of care, and how it might be a response to the current political situation. The walk formed part of Winter Trails: Remapping Nine Elms festival.

Beginning at the R.O.S.E. Community Centre on a cold but dry December evening, we made our way around Nine Elms. We were dwarfed by brand new, towering, luxury flats and wound our way through smaller, more established housing. We huddled in the foyer of Waitrose for a snack break and passed the Nine Elms Pier boating community.  Texts by Ross Raisin, Ruth Beale and Jan Verwoert formed the basis for our conversations.
